Luther’s Challenge AKJV 1975 .
In the year of 1517 a German Professor of theology named Martin Luther challenged the right of the Pope to sell indulgences for remissions of sins for the people. luther nailed 95 questions on the church door in Wittenburg, Germany. Martin Luther 1483-1546 Luther was a fair complexioned boy who sang hymns with a choir on the street of Saxony, Germany for a small living. His best friend was struck with sudden death, leaving Luther a copy of the Holy Scriptures.
Luther lifted his voice in defiance of what he called “THE ENTHRONED LIE!” that tyrannized the soul of christendom. “The prisoners in Patmos at Wartburg are fighting face to face with satan scattering with an unseen hand from these Holy Towers. In 1522 Luther begins his translation of the Bible into the German language. Here is Martin Luther’s Address to the German Nation:
“Theologians alone are Lords of Scripture, although by their lies they have learned nothing about it. With shameful words they conjure up the assertion that the Pope cannot err in the faith, be he good or bad, and for this they provide not a single letter of scripture. Since they assert that the Holy Spirit has not deserted them, no matter how ignorant or bad they may be, they venture to decree just what they please----but if this be so, what need is there for the Holy Scriptures?
Why not burn it all and content ourselves with these unlearned Lords of Rome who have the Holy Ghost within them? In truth, the Holy Ghost only dwells within a godly heart. They must admit there are many godly christians who have the true faith, spirit, understanding word and mind of Christ.
The words of Apostle Paul stands fast: A spiritual man judges all things but is judged by none. Balaam’s donkey was wiser than the prophet himself. If God can speak through a donkey to a prophet, can He not speak through a godly christian against the Pope or any religious authority?”
