DOJ targets health care with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) enforcement

Jampol and Matthew Savage Aibel |Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 8:22AM The acting chief of the DOJ's Criminal Fraud Section announced a new partnership last month between the DOJ’s Healthcare Fraud Unit’s Corporate Strike Force and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act prosecutors. Their mission is to “investigate and prosecute matters relating to health care bribery schemes, both domestic and abroad.” Sandra Moser, speaking at the ACI Global Forum on Anti-Corruption in High Risk Matters on July 25, said the new partnership formalized the coordination of healthcare bribery cases within DOJ. Moser’s announcement is an affirmation that DOJ’s focus on international and domestic healthcare fraud is not subject to political tailwinds.
