Anthony Hervey, of Oxford, Mississippi was well-known in the north of the state for his support of the Confederate flag, and in fact wrote a book in 2006 titled, “ Why I Wave the Confederate Flag, Written by a Black Man</a>.” However, 49-year-old Hervey was killed in a car crash on Sunday, July 19 in what appears to be a “road dispute.” His passenger in the car, Arlene Barnum, of Stuart, Oklahoma survived. Have you heard anything about this in the news? Of course not. It doesn’t fit the narrative. A day before, both Hervey and Barnum had spoken at an event in support of a Confederate monument in Birmingham, Alabama. Barnum, who is also black, said she burned a NAACP membership card at the event. As reported by AL.com , Barnum said that on the ride home Sunday, Hervey was wearing a Confederate kepi, or military hat, when he stopped at a convenience store.
