Before the Pilgrims came to America the Roman Catholic Church came to have so much power and influence that certain wicked and greedy men saw an opportunity to enrich themselves by becoming priests, Bishops and other important men in the clergy. They could use its power for their own selfish purposes. Before long many crimes were being committed in the church and God’s people cried out for reform. 



The Protestant Reformation tells the horrific story of the persecution, excessive fines, and even murders in the most cruel ways these tyrants dealt with christians. I’m sure you’ve read about the lion’s den where Daniel was protected by God after being thrown there for the simple act of praying. Fox’s Book of Martyrs of 1587 states when a book was published it was first carefully read by someone belonging to the Spanish Inquisition.

They didn’t look for merit but looked for a slip of the author’s pen. They read with prejudice and judged with partiality and pursued error on that which was innocent into an offensive meaning. They hated the fortitude books and ordered them to be destroyed. Disobedience would be fatal if caught!

America has lost half of an entire generation to a totalitarian mindset. The propagandizing of our schools, private as well as public, has suceeded in usurping our educational institutions.
