The Big Turnaround
The Big Turn Around Sometimes the King of England would ask for a gift of money and the colonists would vote and give aid to the King. It is important for us to remember that for many years Parliament did not try to tax the colonists and that the king did not collect taxes in America without the vote of the people and the legislature. It was after the french and Indian war that the Parliament tried to tax the colonists.
This caused the Revolution which made our nation Independent. * (PLSturgis: After 1913 and the Amendment 16 which gave the government the right to collect taxes without the people’s permission....taxation without representation threatens another Revolution. However, there were 7 years that the people could have objected before the Amendment could pass. Still, even today there is a redress of grievance to appeal thei unconstitutional Amendment. It takes, we the people, rising up to defend our rights.
Sometimes I think the Lord is permitting Sir Walter Raleigh to look down upon the finishing of his history text which is titled, “The Unfinished History of the World.” Just as Thelen Paulk so vividly explained in the odyssey, “A Visitor From the Past.” For future generations, this legacy he gave...to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. The freedoms we secured for you...we hoped you’d always keep...but tyrants labored endlessly...while your parents were asleep.” Watch for the full poem of Thelen Paulk at the end of this series.)
