The Magna Carta (1215) www.TolleLegePress.com...recopied in 2010 from Geneva Bible 1599 titled “Patriot’s Bible” from Patriot Depot.
The Great Charter of 1215 required by Good King John to proclaim certain rights pertaining to free men. to respect certain legal procedures and accept that his will is bound by the law. It specifically protected certain rights and implicitly supported what became the “writ of habeas corpus” allowing appeal against unlawful imprisonment. the Magna Carta is arguably the most significant early influence to clearly put in writing that King and citizen were equally accountable to the rule of law.
It is this important and Biblical concept that led to the rule of Constitutional law today in English speaking words. Preamble of the Magna Carter: John, King of England, Lord of Ireland, Duke of Normandy, Court of Anjou : To the Archbishops,Bishops, Abbots, Earls, Barons, justiciars, Foresters, sheriffs, stewards, servants and to all his bailiffs: Greetings: Know that having regard to God and to the Salvation of our souls, and those of all our ancestors and heirs, and to the honor of God and to His Holy Church and for the rectifying of our realm we have granted as underwritten by advice of our venerable fathers, Stephen, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England and Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church and all our liegemen.”...In the first place we have granted to God and by this our present charter confirmed for us and our heirs forever that the English Church shall be free and shall have her rights entire and her liberties inviolate.
We will have it be observed which is apparent from this that the freedom of elections which is reckoned most important and very essential to the English Church. We, of our pure and unconstrained will did grant and did by our charter confirm and did obtain the ratification from Pope Innocent before the quarrel arose between us and our barons. this we will observe and our will is that it will be observed in good faith by our heirs forever all the underwritten liberties to be had and held by them and their heirs of us and our heirs forever.”
There are 63 paragraphs to the Magna Carta:
1599 Geneva Bible - Patriot's Edition (Hardback) The Christian Reader Between 1560 and 1599, The Geneva Bible was providentially unleashed upon a dark, discouraged, downtrodden English speaking world. Just when it looked as if the Machiavellian, Divine Right kings, such as the Tudors of England, were about to drive Christendom back to the days of Caesar worship, a Bible appeared that set the stage for a Christian Reformation of life and culture the likes of which the world had never seen.
By the time of the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, just 28 years after the first printing of the Geneva Bible, it was already being said of the English that they were becoming a .people of the Book.. The results of a people reading and obeying the Word of God were the explosion of faith, character, the first missionary movement in history, literature, economic blessing, and political and religious freedom.
