What is a true and genuine American Patriot; what are the components?

"I believe that a very important component is holding onto the values that have been passed onto us by the patriots that have gone before us. Some of those values are faith, family, freedom, sanctity of life from conception to natural death with the inherent dignity and value of every human being being acknowledged and respected, hard work and earning a place/position in society, helping our neighbors, personally supporting those in real need and living out all these values out in our daily lives. 

An American patriot would deeply love our country and faithfully participate in the political process, which requires study to become knowledgeable and well-informed to make the best choices that conform to our constitutional boundaries. Holding to the standards established by the Declaration and Constitution is a really important part of it because our identity as a people and nation ...was formed and developed from them. All of our American values were birthed from our Biblical foundation which permeated all aspects of society from the education and the arts to law and government, reaching from the lowest economic places to the highest levels of achievement and everything in between.

 It was the air we all breathed and it made this country so different from all other places and it bound us together as a people. We might be rich, we might be poor, but achievement in any area of life by anyone was celebrated and served to show others that it could be done. We were unashamed to have heroes, to read about them, tell their stories, and learn from their lives. And for many years so many patriots were birthed out of this American soil, decent, strong, brave and true patriots who sacrificially served out of love and duty."
We're all grateful for the patriots we've been privileged to know.

WHO AND WHY ARE YOU VOTING FOR IN THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE COMING UP ?

Recently, in the discussion of the Presidential race, I have asked Trump supporters to explain why they support Trump and what specific changes they believe Trump will make and 'make America great again'. 

Trump hasn't told us and, in fairness, maybe he can't. If I were looking at how I'd change America there are some specifics I could offer but I, as a professional production manager, understand that 'stuff happens' and you have to change plans. And the current world is so volatile... anything can happen... so plans have to be flexible. But, never-the-less, Americans should choose the next President based on sound and thoughtful reasons... not just because they 'like' someone. All of Obama's supporters can claim that.... they just liked him... despite the fact he clearly stated he is a Leftist, despite all the things that were obviously true about him. 

They kept the blinders on and voted for him... see where that got us? In asking Trump supporters to explain their support I am accused of being a Cruz supporter and that this page is all about supporting Cruz. I don't think that's reasonable. If you want me to criticize Cruz I can do that and have done that on this page. I am asking people their reasons for supporting candidates when there doesn't appear to be well thought out reasons and I think that's sensible for me to do here. It stimulates dialogue, it gives people insight into the thinking of other patriots, it helps us understand each other and that can lead to consensus and unity. 

So don't accuse me of things that I've not demonstrated. I will ask you why you support a candidate and I'll expect you to give a reasoned answer and not retort with personal insults because you don't have a reasoned answer. If you do that, I'll remove you from the group because it's a violation of group rules. America is not going to be saved by ANY President. If you think that you're wrong and it's a stupid notion. America got to where it is because of generations of bad policy, bad choices, and wrong thinking Americans voting for wrong thinking people. No President is going to undo that in 4 or even 8 years. So.. stop thinking like that... it's not realistic. 

If you support Trump.. be able to explain why and be prepared to engage with people on this page about who should be President and why. Be prepared to give well thought out explanations for your support or don't wave a flag. If you support Cruz, Carson, Rubio, or any of the others... same thing applies.

 If you can't explain in American terms why you support someone for President then you should be asking yourself if your reasons are right. Voting for someone because you feel good about what you can see of them at this point in history is idiotic and I care a great deal because my children may suffer the consequences of your foolish choices... if you're a person making foolish choices.

 Study the candidates and choose based on reason and logic and rational and substantial reasons. If you're not voting like that... you're part of the problem.
