WHAT WE ONCE WERE, CAN BE..

WHAT WE ONCE WERE, CAN BE..
© by ROBBY BOWLING

We once were a nation of doers
We have now forsaken that creed
The lust for power has taken us nowhere
But into this land full of Greed

We once revered the quest for knowledge
But Truth is no longer our goal
We now seem content with filth & squalor
I guess we now share a Parasites Soul

We once fought for our lives & honor
But now we fight for nothing at all
What little that's left is an illusion
We've seen the rise so is this the fall

We once had our dreams & prayers
They've all now been squandered for hate
Has evil ripped out the once healthy heart
And the hour-glass suggests its too late

All we have left is each other
And together we all share some blame
But together we can stand up just once more
We shouldn't have to die with this shame

The Devil himself has played his part
And his disciples now rule this land
This is no longer a life worth living
It is past time to take our last stand

What we once were, we can be again
But we need faith to believe
But to not try is the greatest sin
And if we'd only open up our eyes & see
